Once you can consistently get w15-16 maxes on multiple builders (faster on some), then I would consider using Chaos.Ĭhaos is really hard to give specific tips for as there is simply too much variability (also this latest patch possibly changed things greatly with early resonator nerf and gravlance nerf, two very common units for Chaos). Many Chaos players heavily overbuild early on and that snowballs into midgame. You probably do what I did originally and just wait for the "OP units" to show up and don't really understand how to use each builder. Sometimes the game has very few leaks (bad for eco), sometimes you are on an easier builder than others (Beast, Ancient prob easiest atm) and sometimes you might need to play safer (fear of team dying on w14 for example).Ģ) It is generally EASIER, not harder, to do w19 and w20 with a fast eco build (this is normally around when eco builds overtake others in terms of army value).ģ) I actually recommend not playing Chaos. Maybe a little harder for really bad RCB's. You can learn a lot this way.ġ) "Before 20" is actually very conservative! You should really be shooting to max between 13 and 16, 17 at the absolute latest IMO. Then when you finish a game, if you notice one or two people in particular had stellar eco and were basically carrying the game, watch the replay to see what they built and when they built it. If you click on the "plus sign" in the upper right corner of the screen, you can open the Leaderboard, which shows a plethora of info such as each player's level, how much eco they have, their army value, etc. In a similar vein, building ranged dps directly behind your tank line is almost always a bad idea, since it means creep wrap-around can pick them off before they've done much damage.įinally, be observant. Building up at the very front of your lane is almost always a bad idea, because it means your units engage sooner, which means less eco time and it means your units will be dying faster than someone who builds back near the red line. While we're on the subject of positioning, don't be afraid to utilize the entire space of your lane. For the most part though, ranged + debuffs behind, tanks up front. Those kinds of nuances come with practice and experience. There can be exceptions to this though - some melee units like Sentinels are better off in the BACK of your army due to buffs they provide, whereas some ranged units like Dragon Aspects are better up front because they can serve as a secondary tank line. It sounds self-evident but you usually want ranged dps in the back of your army, while a tank line is up front soaking damage. Waves 1-3 are critically important if you overbuild you'll find yourself struggling mid-late game because your eco was stunted, and if you UNDERbuild you'll find yourself snowball-leaking.Īnother really big thing is unit positioning. Like Yare said, the biggest thing is learning what unit compositions will hold early and what won't, thus allowing you to establish an economy.
